Ek Balam & Río Lagartos

 

Ek Balam, which means Black Jaguar in the Mayan language, is one of the most incredibile archaeological sites in the Mayan Riviera, with buildings dating from the Late Preclassic times. It is a unique discovery and today one of the most important in the studies of ancient Mayan writing. Ek Balam is known for the impressive stucco on the walls of the site's main temple.
